Walking among the beautiful collection of items from the times and life of Napoleon recently at an exhibition at M.S. Rau Antiques in the French Quarter I found things of interest and inspiration.

It was amazing to see letters Napoleon Bonaparte and his wife Josephine had written or stand at the desk where he had penned his memoirs during his exile. A death mask of Napoleon's, a sword, various furniture as well as items like hand mirrors, walking sticks, busts and famous paintings of the French leader were also on display.

Such a lovely afternoon visiting these pieces and using them as to a way to learn more about Napoleon whose influence was not only felt in France but in New Orleans as well. It definitely inspired.
