As the famed poet Robert Frost wrote, "A flower unplucked is but left to falling, And nothing is gained by not gathering roses."

What a beautiful pink rose!

The rose has around 150 species in the Northern Hemisphere and is thought to have been first cultivated in China some 5,000 years ago before spreading throughout the world.

The rose more than any other flower in history, literature and our daily lives seems to have significant meaning to the individual and certain emotions with its very presence. The meanings are as various as the rose's colors and who or why it is being given. Some say it expresses balance, promise, hope and new beginnings. Others say the rose symbolizes enchantment, joy, love, purity or passion.

However, the lovely pink rose symbolizes grace, gratitude and youthful joy.

Its spiritual significance has also been important throughout history. Monks have  tended rose gardens since the Middle Ages. Scholars note that a red rose symbolizes the mystic center while the white one is the rose of confession.

No matter its meaning or interpretation, this lovely art of a rose in full bloom with perfect buds round it would be perfect in a gilt frame and make a wonderful gift.
